The focus of this training course is on enabling school leaders to shape their self-evaluation summary to clearly identify where their school is at, as well as indentifying the main improvement priorities. Undertaken utilising simple processes for whole-school and departmental self-evaluation writing, this course will increase confidence in writing a high quality effective summary self-evaluation document. |

This course is designed to ensure that participants understand what needs to be prepared for in advance of an inspection and how senior leaders can influence and manage the process of an inspection. A range of top tips on helping leaders to have greater control of the inspection process will be provided by an experienced Ofsted lead inspector. |
Mon 20th & Tues 21st November

The course is designed to equip participants with skills similar to those used by newly trained Ofsted inspectors. Each area is explored in an imaginative and realistic setting so the entire inspection process is covered, ensuring that all delegates get a full in-depth understanding of the whole process. You will experience everything through the eyes of the inspector, ensuring that you are better prepared for any future inspection. |

By the end of the course you will:

- Complete your evaluation of the strengths and development needs of your governing board
- Consider the use and analysis of a skills audit which identifies strengths and areas for development
- Review a range of self-evaluation tools to use with your governing board and begin to create a governing board action plan
- Understand the current ‘landscape and expectations’ of school governance
- Be clear about governors’ core functions and what they look like in practice
- Consider the difference between ‘Strategic’ and ‘Operational’ functions
- Reflect on current National Information for governors
- Understand the current inspection framework and what is expected of governors
- Consider how to evidence your impact as a governing board using inspection criteria for effective governance
