  • Understand the tables and charts in the NEW ASP
  • Begin to interpret and analyse the school performance information in the new DfE interactive online tool
  • Complete your evaluation of the strengths and development needs of your governing board 
  • Consider the use and analysis of a skills audit which identifies strengths and areas for development 
  • Review a range of self-evaluation tools to use with your governing board and begin to create a governing board action plan
  • Understand the current ‘landscape and expectations’ of school governance
  • Be clear about governors’ core functions and what they look like in practice
  • Consider the difference between ‘Strategic’ and ‘Operational’ functions
  • Reflect on current National Information for governors
  • Understand the current inspection framework and what is expected of governors
  • Consider how to evidence your impact as a governing board using inspection criteria for effective governance
