Creating sustainability with Sport Premium funding
The sporting landscape has changed a year on from 2012. Where will it lie in 2014?
The government is adding £150 million a year to schools' budgets for 2013-14 and 2014-15 to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. Allocated by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport to primary school head teachers, this funding is ring-fenced and so can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools.
The outcomes schools muct achieve with this investment is clear and the impact of this will be assessed by Ofsted. As a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting best practice in the coaching of sport, physical activity and health in schools and the community, Compass is well placed to help schools maximise their investments and create sustainable impact for primary schools.
Our main mission is to professionalise the industry with fit for purpose, professional qualifications as well as being influential in the formation of the new professional register. But we want to go further than that for our members...
The report on our launch at the House of Commons, also published here, shows how health and fitness among pupils is a key concern in parliament and COMPASS already has the backing of influential public figures.
We would also like to thank our membership and their staff for their terrific work in professionalising an unregulated industry sector. Building sustainable partnerships and strong sound advocacy, while delivering value and quality, is at the heart of what we do.
