We made it half way to the moon!

It was a golden year for primary schools taking part in The Golden Mile initiative with over 28,000 children participating across the UK, completing 150,000 miles of physical activity. This is an astronomical achievement; in fact it’s the equivalent of walking over half way to the moon!

We like to reward achievement at The Golden Mile, that’s why we had the privilege of awarding over one million certificates to pupils achieving 5, 25, 50, 75, 100 and 150 miles of physical activity within the safety of the school grounds.

Register your school today so your pupils can start clocking up the miles.

Why schools use The Golden Mile...

The Golden Mile is all about rewarding personal achievement and encouraging pupils to partake in daily physical activity.

We want to get all the way to the moon this school year, that’s why we need even more primary schools registering so even more children can access our unique physical activity fitness initiative.

The investment required to implement The Golden Mile in your school is on average £2 per pupil per year. That’s as little as 5% of your sport premium funding so your whole school can access The Golden Mile for one year.

Find out why so many schools choose The Golden Mile.

And the winners are...

The great thing about the initiative it’s completely measurable, meaning you can see how many miles each pupil and each class achieves. You can see class vs class comparisons and even challenge other schools in your area.

Schools record all Golden Miles achieved via our unique online portal which you gain access to upon registration. We’ll also let you know monthly how your school is achieving compared to others.

If the leader board was the highest number of Golden Miles without taking the average number of pupils into consideration, Breckon Hill Primary School in Middlesbrough would come out top clocking up an impressive 9,000 miles last school year.

We know that wouldn’t be fair if you’re a smaller school, that’s why we’ve worked out the average number of Golden Miles achieved per pupil.

Here are the top 3 schools for July -

  1. Garvestone Community Primary School, Norwich; 9.95 milesĀ
  2. Breachwood Green Junior Mixed & Infants school, Hitchin; 6.31 miles
  3. Breckon Hill Primary School, Middlesbrough; 5.88 miles

Register for The Golden Mile and see if your school can hit the top of the league!

A head teacher said:

“We really look forward to the monthly Golden Mile newsletter to see where we are on the league table and to see who we are in contention with. Good healthy competition all helps to encourage the children to work harder the following months. We love The Golden Mile initiative and would wholeheartedly recommend it to other schools.”

Rosemarie Bethel, head teacher at Breachwood Green J.M.I. School.
