To [%parent_firstname%] and [%child_firstname%],

We are delighted that you and your child have embraced the Premier Academy and are looking forward to working with you throughout the programme. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to the first week on:

Monday 29th January
Bolton Boys School,
Chorley New Road Bolton Lancashire BL1 4PA
18:00 – 19:00 (5-7year olds) and 19:00 – 20:00 (7-11year olds).

We have a really exciting session planned, so make sure your child comes prepared for lots of fun activities that will develop the skills and confidence they will need to help them work with others in their group and for working on their own.

Here is a special welcome to the Premier Academy for you and your child to enjoy:

Please arrive in plenty of time for your session, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jamie Mills will be there to welcome you, answer any questions you may have and to lead the session. Your child will need to wear suitable sports clothing for outdoor activity.

The Premier Academy is devoted to developing and equipping your child with the foundation, approach and skills that they need to reach their potential in sport and life by putting your child at the heart of their sporting development. To do this, we will need your help and, throughout the programme, we will equip parents/carers with lots of ideas and fun things to do at home.

The way your communications will work throughout the Premier Academy is that we will send you one e mail ahead of the session to tell you what the upcoming session theme is, sometimes we will include video clips from one of our ambassadors which we ask you to share with your child. We will then send a follow up e mail after the session which will include some top tips from our Parent Handbook and also some ideas of activities that you could do to support your budding super star that week. These ideas will either develop further their skills from the previous week or help them prepare for the next session.

Week 1 Parent Tip...

After your child’s session here are some ideas for you to think about for the journey home:

  • Ask open ended questions
  • Talk about effort
  • Be humble in THEIR victory and gracious in THEIR defeat
  • Avoid reward winning with treats
  • Talk about what they want to practice and make opportunities for them to do so.
  • Play with them
  • Encourage them to put their own dirty kit in the washing basket
  • Focus on the fun they have enjoyed
  • Encourage an early night as sleep is really important

Enjoy the session
