Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognise and control your own feelings and those of others. The Premier Academy is planned to help your child develop:
The ability to monitor feelings.
Social intelligence and awareness.
Self-management and restraint.
Emotional intelligence is a skill that can be taught and that we can all develop. Premier Academy Professionals apply understanding of related principles to the planning and delivery of their sessions.
So what does that mean for us?
Encourage your child to do things for themselves.
Encourage them to persist with tasks that are difficult.
Talk to your child about your own self-awareness. What do you find triggers an emotional response and how do you moderate it? Model successful emotional behaviour. ‘Read’ and recognize your child’s feelings.
Talk your child through failure and help them to see it as not only acceptable, but as an important part of the learning process.
Don’t always let your child win, but don’t go too far the other way either! Praise effort over outcome.
