This month, we are fencing our way to the record books!

That’s right. Next week on Wednesday 27th September, Premier and 300 children from Core Education Trust in Birmingham will be attempting to smash the Guinness World Record for the largest fencing lesson ever held! The 300 children partaking will be a mix from Nansen Primary and Rockwood Academy in Birmingham.

This world record attempt kicks off Premier’s national fencing campaign that aims to get more children active and partaking in fencing than we’ve ever had before. To do this, we are targeting singing up ONE THOUSAND NEW SCHOOLS to deliver fencing to their children, whether that’s curricular or extracurricular.

How will we drive 1,000 new schools?

  • Guinness World Record attempt to raise awareness of fencing and create excitement
  • FREE fencing taster sessions for schools looking to offer fencing to their pupils
  • FREE Wellbeing Healthy Taster Day for NEW schools who sign up and offer fencing
  • An exciting franchisee incentive to be announced soon...

We will contact you with follow up guidance and advice when a school lead is received!

Fencing is a brilliant sport for children to be involved with and contributes to both physical and mental development. It’s a high impact, aerobic workout that builds stamina, strength and coordination. Mentally, it develops awareness of body positioning, contributes to healthy living, it is known to be a stress reliever and helps to improve strategic thinking, focus and intuition.

En garde for National Fitness Day

As part of National Fitness Day (27/09/17), ukactive are holding their 10 at 10 event. This clever initiative looks to get people throughout the UK active for at least 10 minutes at 10am! To help support this, and coincide with our National fencing campaign, we have created a handy 10-minute fencing lesson that teachers children the basics of fencing movement and defence. The best bit about this is it’s only 10 minutes long and requires some hoops and bean bags to deliver.

Let's get social!

We ask that you help support this fencing campaign and take 10 minutes out of your day next Wednesday to introduce fencing to the children you’re working with. We have sent the resources directly to schools too! If you do register your event with ukactive, please let us know which school you are delivering in.
