Coach Assessment Course – book your place now!

We are proud of the development opportunities that we are able to offer to Premier Sport coaches due to the size of our network.

We recently published the stats in the rise of assessments in term 1 compared with last year, which is excellent news and demonstrates the continued need for support with staff assessment.

In recent weeks an increasing number of franchisees have asked how they can deploy staff to perform this vital quality control function - it might be their staff team is too big or a CPD and promotion opportunity they wish to offer.

This is great news for you, as your franchisee may ask you to carry out assessments on colleagues and be an important part of ensuring that children we teach receive the correct learning.

In order to you to do this, you must have attended the one day Coach Assessment training beforehand. It is imperative that quality is maintained throughout the assessment process and the correct information and actions arising are being logged.

Courses available are:

South East - Thursday 20th March 2014, 9.00 - 17.00, Kings Arms, Market Square, Westerham

Midlands - Thursday 29th May 2014, 9.00 - 17.00, Derby Conference Centre, London Road, Derby

If you would like to be trained in his area, please ask your franchisee to book you on an upcoming course delivered by National Coach and Development Officer, Andy Heald.

From Coach to Franchisee – do you know YOUR potential?

Although recruiting new franchise owners from external sources is vital to continuing our expansion across the UK, another key avenue for our long term success is awarding franchises to existing coaches from within the Premier Sport network.

In the last 6 months we've had three Premier Sport coaches who now own their own successful Premier Sport businesses.

Read our Q&A with Paul Furniss and Steve Hart...

This demonstrates that we have a great number of talented individuals within the network who have the attributes to run their own business. Some of our most successful franchisees started as coaches and there is more than one way to do it!

  • Some have entered into a partnership with the franchisee whom they currently work for – it's a good way of the franchisee expanding as well as a nice opportunity for a first time business owner
  • Others have agreed a development plan involving Premier Sport and the Franchisee, this enables you the opportunity to invest in your own business in a neighbouring territory over a period of a time, and helps the franchisee with a smooth handover for a new member of staff

With both of these options, you will have a known and trusted business owner next door.

PS – We have a relationship with high street banks which means they help to fund your business too!

Do you have a Contract of Employment & Non Compete Agreement?

Where possible the exit of a Premier Sport franchisee is always carefully managed, more often than not, the incoming franchisee continues to employ the staff working for the previous franchisee. However this isn't always the case and we issue very clear guidelines around staff employment to protect you if this rare event were to happen, as we have seen a few incidents recently of franchisees exiting an area and leaving their staff in employment limbo.

It essential that all members of staff have agreed and signed contracts of employment and non-compete agreements with their franchisee. This forms part of our Minimum Operating Standards (MOS) to even be allowed to work within the Premier Sport group. You have rights as an employee and it is important that these are clear and agreed at the start of your employment.

Every coaching professional should now have access to the Business Management System (BMS) through your coach log in. You will see that before your employment started, your qualifications had been uploaded to your home page. You can help your franchisee maintain the most up to date information on yourself. All staff should have the following uploaded;

  • Photo identification (For ID Badge)
  • DBS number
  • Safeguard certificate
  • 1st Aid certificate
  • Sports Qualifications

(Remember through the new schools portal, schools can also now see what qualifications you hold. You will always be sent a reminder if any certificate approaching expiry is imminent).
