Premier Sport celebrates 10 years in Derbyshire

Premier Sport are embarking on their 10th year working in schools across Derby and South Derbyshire, delivering PE & sport.

In that time, we’ve worked with over 100 different schools across the county. 25% of these we’ve been working with for over five years! We’ve had so many fantastic endorsements during this time, here’s one we’d like to share with you;

“Griffe Field Primary have been working with Premier Sport for over five years now and we have always been extremely happy with the partnership. The coaches are professional and maintain excellent working relationships with teachers and deliver well planned, differentiated sport lessons for pupils across the school (which the children really enjoy). Premier Sport not only provide high quality PPA cover they also deliver CPD for teachers, a wide range of before and after school clubs and holiday clubs”

Emma Mitchell – Headteacher Griffe Field Primary School, Derby

The most important statistic is the impact we’ve had on over 500,000 children in the nine years to date, and we only want that number to increase!

Kind Regards,
James Jennison

Are you measuring your pupils’ fitness?

As part of the school sport premium funding, Ofsted request that schools report on how the funding is being spent and its impact on their children. In addition to this, ukactive have recently suggested that childrens’ fitness levels should be measured, just as they are in other areas of the curriculum.

Measuring childrens’ fitness provides a great opportunity for schools to identify inactive or disengaged children and put interventions in place to support them. This is underpinned with data to demonstrate the improvement in fitness / impact on the children.

How can your school do this?

We can carry out fitness measurements on children using The Golden Mile. The data is then compiled into a report which can be used as evidence for Ofsted. The measurements will then be repeated half way through the year and then again at the end of the year to fully demonstrate the progress made by every child.

Over 15 schools in Derbyshire have already registered for what we call ‘Baseline Measurements.’

Damian Banks, PE Coordinator at Herbert Strutt Primary School commented, “The Baseline Measurement day at Herbert Strutt Primary School was a thought provoking activity that was clearly explained and organised. We also liked the fact that it brought out a competitive instinct in many of the children and actually running 4 minutes continuously was a challenge in the duration but also how they approached it. Hopefully this initial event will help us motivate the children to attend more clubs in school, encourage them to be active and want to improve their fitness.”

For more information or to register for a Baseline Measurement, please contact our Golden Mile Coordinator at [email protected]
