Chief Executive, David Batch comments on Primary PE & Sport Premium extension
|
Prime Minister David Cameron has announced that primary schools in England will continue to receive the £150m per year sports funding until 2020.
With school sport and legacy an ongoing debate following London 2012, this announcement is a welcomed one for schools, parents, sports practitioners and most importantly children who will ultimately benefit from a long term, sustainable strategy to sport and physical activity.
Mr. Cameron says, school sport has an important role in building "confidence and a sense of achievement".
The rise of childhood obesity and inactivity as highlighted in ukactive's ‘Turning the tide of inactivity’ report published earlier this week, further evidences the need for there to be a real focus on engaging with the disengaged and promoting a healthier lifestyle across communities.
David Batch, Chief Executive of Premier Sport, the UK's largest sport and physical activity provider of its kind comments:
"This is another fantastic step forward to ensuring that every child benefits from high quality PE & Sport".

Introducing...
|
Matt Ewer
Matt lives in Rugby with his wife Louise and has launched his franchises in the Rugby and Nuneaton regions.
After achieving a BA Hons in Philosophy at Nottingham University Matt embarked on a career in Business Development within the demanding recruitment arena. After a successful period in London Matt had the opportunity to move back closer to home to work as an Acquisitions Manager for a commercial property company. Matt's entrepreneurial spirit comes from his father who has grown and runs his own successful business.
Matt's desire to join Premier Sport and his determination to make it succeed was demonstrated in the Summer when in addition to undergoing his due diligence into Premier Sport there was just a small matter of getting married and finishing renovating his home in time for the big day.
Matt has big plans for his franchise, he was not satisfied with just one franchise being Rugby, Matt has invested into a second, neighbouring territory - Nuneaton. Matt is clear with offering a complete activity proposition when presenting to head teachers. This is why Matt has also invested in The Golden Mile and Premier Performing Arts through the business builder franchise package.
Cricket is Matt's main love. He is captain of his town Cricket club. Matt has also volunteered a great deal of time with the cricket club, securing numerous grants enabling a development of the club house and build new training facilities. Matt intends to use his contacts with sports providers, council and other cricket clubs to promote Premier Sport.
We look forward to working with Matt as he builds his business and by doing so, achieves his target being the leading activity provider in the region with Premier Sport.
Next week: Andrew Overhill who has launched in Somerset.

Performing Arts Instructor marked as ‘Ofsted OUTSTANDING’
|
Stuart Hancock and Daniel French launched the Premier Performing Arts business in the Peterborough, Stamford and Grantham territory in January and have already enjoyed great success!
As well as securing curricular and extracurricular work with over 5 schools, they have recently been internally assessed by the Deputy Head at Castor CE School, with OUTSTANDING results.
|
Stuart says:
"I have been working at this school for the past 3 weeks with Key Stage 1 students to enhance their current curriculum provision for Dance.
"My initial contract was one half day a week up until Easter, however since the assessment they would like for us to continue working with them until the Summer term and have upped the provision to two half days a week enabling us to work with both KS1 and KS2."
Some of the positive comments from Castor CE School included:
- Fantastic dance links to the topics that Year 1 and 2 are doing (Water/Lighthouses and Africa)
- Good cross curricular links. It was great to see instruments being used in the Year 1 Session to link with African dance and children listening to the beat of the music in the Year 2 lesson. This really extended the children
- Nice to see SEN children accessing the session at their own ability.
Frankie Worthington, Director of Premier Performing Arts says:
"I am absolutely thrilled to hear about the positive work that Stuart is doing within local Schools, this programme was designed around engaging children in activities and linking academic topics with dance and performance. This proves that ALL children regardless of the topic can be engaged and learn."

New schools – new families
|
In Autumn term we added 202 new schools to our customer base throughout the network – that equates to circa 40,000 new children accessing Premier Sport products on a weekly basis.
Upselling into existing schools
In December the network delivered 62% more events compared to the same period last year - Are you continuing to grow your business locally or are you bogged down with day to day tasks?
Ensure you build enough capacity for growth and most importantly put a ‘value’ on your time as business owner!
For example, you might be spending your time delivering a 1 hour Sports Course for £40, whereas spending 1 hour trying to grown your business in the same school could result in selling a £10k PE contract. |

Premier Performing Arts in the press...
|
Daniel French and Stuart Hancock have recently purchased the Premier Performing Arts license in Peterborough, Stamford and Grantham. Since their official launch in January they have gone from success to success securing both curricular and extracurricular work.
Daniel French, Performing Arts licensee, Premier Sport franchisee and Golden Mile licensee commented:
"All of the ‘Free Dance Mornings’ that Stuart has delivered have been really well received by the schools. They have been impressed by his knowledge of the subject, his delivery and his lesson content and relevance. Every single school has expressed an interest in working with us and he has already been successful in setting both curricular and extra curricular sessions up. Stuart has used the resource booklets to endorse what he can deliver which many schools have been impressed by and he has also had success in tying his lessons, and future lessons, to the various school and individual classes topics."
Check out the Peterborough Telegraph this week to see Stuart putting pupils at Dogsthorpe Infant School through their paces.
