Another coach judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted

A huge congratulations goes to franchisee, Samantha McCabe and in particular her coach Lee Ryan who was judged ‘OUTSTANDING’ by Ofsted during a recent surprise visit.

“One of the Ofsted criteria for Sports Premium funding is to hire qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE. Premier Sport have been supporting High Bank JI&N over recent weeks to improve the quality of sports coaching within the school. During a recent Ofsted the quality of teaching for a PE lesson delivered by Lee Ryan was judged to be 'Outstanding' which has significantly helped the school to demonstrate a significant improvement in the teaching of PE within the school curriculum.”

Primary school pupil inspired to teach the next generation

As a 5 year old primary school pupil attending Samuel Lucas School in Hertfordshire, Jack Stanton always showed a great enthusiasm for all the activity that Premier Sport delivered at the school.

His true passion was football and he would attend the after school football club each week gaining great inspiration from his coach at the time, Karl Fox. So much so, Jack (18) has now begun an apprenticeship scheme with Premier Sport.

Ofsted ‘legacy’ question to school!

A franchisee who has recently scored Ofsted ‘Good with outstanding features’ has reported how the inspectors quizzed the head teacher about the schools legacy plan since the extension of the sport premium funding. The franchisee and the headteacher have since discussed signing a three year service level agreement to build a legacy and create a sustainable long term plan!

Have you considered how you can work with schools to sign a three year deal?

This would cement your relationship and allow you to create that long term plan and investment that is needed to embed sport and PE within the school community.

Staff BMS Access

All members of your staff should now have their own log in to the BMS. Information accessed through the BMS is sensitised depending on job role e.g. a business manager will be able to access a lot more than a coach.

Don’t share your log in details and passwords with others. This is a breach of our data protection policy and would allow access to information they may not have authority to view or use.

If staff need to obtain a login, please follow this training video. The video is also available on the resources section of the BMS.

Introducing our first monthly parent newsletter

We’re pleased to share with you an example of our new monthly newsletter that will be distributed to our database of over 75,000 parents over the weekend.

Parents on our database will receive the newsletter monthly and will be personalised to them providing recommendations for future courses and activities across our portfolio. Please note you must ensure all your course information is loaded in to the BMS or this new communication opportunity will be lost.

It isn’t that they can’t see the solution. Is it that they can’t see the problem?

Schools are held accountable and are required to publish by April 2014 on their websites, details of how they spend or will spend their PE and sport grant. They must also include detail about the impact this funding has on pupils PE and sport participation and attainment.

This creates a huge opportunity for franchisees to be able to provide a solution for schools and take away this burden from head teachers. In our experience, a large number of schools are only now just getting to grips with the sports premium and how they should be using this ring-fenced funding.

Schools Portal update

With 90% of work completed on the new schools portal we’ve been very happy with the initial reaction from schools and franchisees on this massive undertaking. Like any new online development there will be technical issues to address during the first few months, so please remember that any bugs and fixes need to be reported via the BMS and not directly to a member of staff at head office.

Planning framework - webinar reminder

Just as a reminder, here is the supporting webinar video to help navigate you through the planning framework section on the BMS.

If you encounter any issues please ensure you log these in the ‘Bugs & enhancement’ section under the ‘Reporting’ tab of the BMS.
