“Creativity Is Contagious, Pass It On” – Albert Einstein

This week we’ve been thinking about Core Value #6 – “Be Adventurous, Creative and Open-Minded.”  But what is creativity, how can it add to your business, and how can you inspire yourself and your staff to get creative?

The dictionary definition of creativity is: “the use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness.” Creativity is using your imagination, experience and instinct to create original ideas, in order to create or invent something. Many people would instantly think that this means creating a physical piece of art such as a painting, or a new gadget. But creativity is much more than this – creative thinking is an essential element of running your own business. You need to constantly be evolving, thinking of new ideas and ways to market, promote, and deliver your services or products.

The benefits of creativity in a business environment:

  • Increased team work and team bonding
  • Increased staff morale
  • More innovative ideas
  • More problem solving
  • More staff engagement and staff retention

Phil presented Premier’s award submission to bfa’s judging panel on12 April at HSBC Reading. The winner will be announced at a black-tie dinner on 23rd June in Nottingham.
