UK Votes to Leave EU

Yesterday, the UK voted to leave the EU. While it remains unclear how this will impact the physical activity sector, it does signal the start of a number of technical processes leading to a formal withdrawal agreement in a minimum of two years’ time.

Following the news of his defeat, UK Prime Minister, David Cameron also resigned from office.

ukactive has produced an overview on the immediate political and economic fallout and the technical processes which the ‘leave vote’ have set in motion.

ACTION REQUIRED | Annual Quality and Impact Review Survey

The Annual Quality and Impact Review Survey was distributed to our partner schools yesterday. As part of the process, we’d now like for you send the survey link below to your schools, urging headteachers to complete the survey before next Friday 1st July.

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/qualityreview15_16

Every year we review and develop the school based PE & school sport programme we’re delivering in schools and the survey is based on the provision they have received from you and your team.

And the Core Value Week #3 Winner is...

This week’s Core Value Challenge was #3 – Deliver ‘wow’ with every interaction. And Joe definitely WOWED us with this brilliant video! Well done Joe, the £250 prize is very well deserved.

We had such a brilliant response last week, that the judging was very difficult – we will be using this video and some of the others to send to schools and parents, to show them just how incredible our staff are, and why they should choose Premier!

This week’s Core Value Challenge is open, the theme this week is #4 – commit to continual improvement. So it’s time to show us what your Activity Professionals are doing to improve themselves, or how they are contributing to improve the business... entry closes 9am Monday.

Sales Proposals... Get it Right FIRST Time!

Sales proposals are the heart and soul of selling. They’re also time consuming, though – so when you get the opportunity to write one, you want it to be a winner.

  1. Write a proposal, not an estimate

There’s a big difference. An estimate provides a price quote and statement of work. A proposal provides a summary of the clients (schools’) problems and how you’ll help solve them. An estimate keeps the client focused on price; a proposal (even though it includes price) keeps the client focused on the value they’ll receive.

Activity Professional Lends Helping Hand During Race for Life #morethansport

When Premier Sport Activity Professional, Luke Askew was asked to help out at a Race for Life charity event at one of his school’s on Wednesday, he didn’t realise he would end up taking part. The race, in aid of Cancer Research UK, involved every child from years 1 to 6 at St Peter’s Primary School in Blackburn including the inspirational Samual Hosker.

As Luke was cheering everyone on, he noticed a young boy – Samuel Hosker from Year 2, in his wheelchair. Luke took it upon himself to go and help Samuel, who couldn’t push himself, taking hold of the wheelchair and running with him, pushing him over the grass for the entire race until the very end, where Samuel finished by walking the last stretch himself, using his frame.

Core Value Challenge #4 – Commit to Continual Improvement

This week we are looking at Core Value #4 – Commit to Continual Improvement. We’d love to hear from Activity Professionals that have been continuing to improve themselves, and how they have done this. Some ideas for how to commit to continual improvement are listed below:

  • Learn
You can never learn too much, and everyone can learn something new every day. Take the opportunity to enrol on courses which will help you learn more about your job/industry or a new skill that will benefit your work. Also, listen to your colleagues and ask them questions if you are unsure about something – learn from others.

Exposure to New Customers

In last week’s newsletter we highlighted the great news about this summer’s promotion with Chewits which has already featured in over 21 Local World (UK’s biggest regional newspaper publisher) publications up and down the country meaning great exposure to attract new customers and reward existing ones.

The exposure of the brand both nationally and locally is set increase again as we have managed to secure a promotion in this weekend’s Sunday Star. And with a readership of over 300,000 we are delighted to be able to secure this coverage on behalf of franchisees. We’ve also included The Golden Mile and our new Ambassador programme in to the offer, meaning greater publicity of these products and potential for new school customers too.

Coming Soon... Premier Apprenticeship Video Diary

We’re excited to announce that we will be featuring a series of video diaries from our Apprentices. Our first apprentice is Joanna Hunt, a Premier Performing Arts apprentice. We will be catching up with Joanna every three months to see what she thinks of working for Premier Performing Arts, what she has learnt, and what experiences she has had. This will give everyone a great insight in to Premier’s training, and what it’s like as a new member of staff joining the company. Check out the video from Joanna, who is excited to come on board!

We are also looking for a Premier Sport apprentice to follow along their journey with the company – the chosen apprentice will also receive a £100 training voucher for taking part. Contact [email protected] to put your apprentice forward for the opportunity.

Do You Want Potential Customers to Find You on Google?

Did you know that there are on average 2.3 MILLION Google Searches made every second?

With statistics like this, it’s essential that you build up an online presence. The perfect way for you to do this is with a personalised regional landing page, using “Premier Sport Henley” as an example – so when people Google “extracurricular activities Henley”, the page could appear in Google like this:

How to Put your Business Strategy into Action Each Day... GOSPA Model

There is a simple five-step formula that you can use for establishing clear objectives and for strategic planning for the rest of your career. As regularly as breathing in and breathing out, you should practice these five principles in every part of your business.

Step one: The first letter, ‘G’, stands for Goals. Goals in business represent the final results that YOU want to achieve. All business goals can be defined in financial terms. Your gaols must be clear, written and specific. They must be measurable and exact and time-bounded with deadlines. Some examples of financial goals are sales volume, net profit, return on equity, return on investment, return on sales, growth rate, market share, and profit per customers. Which numbers you choose to focus on largely determines how you will organise and deploy the people and resources of your business.
