Important information concerning your Act Pro DBS certification

Schools may now start to approach you and make enquires, should you happen to have an Activity Professional within your business that holds content on their DBS certificate.

Why? In 2009, the Department of Education released the ‘Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations’, but this has only just been communicated to the schools sector.

This update requires schools which provide care for pupils under the age of 8, to ensure that staff and volunteers working in these settings are not disqualified from doing so under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009.

Disqualification (content) means:

  • Having certain orders or other restrictions placed upon them
  • Having committed certain offences

Franchisee quadruples initial investment – dare to Inspire to Compete?

At the beginning of the school year, Sunderland franchisee, Duncan Donnelly set his sights on an Inspire to Compete Archery competition in 2015. Following an initial investment of £595 for an Arrows Soft Archery Kit, he’s now set to quadruple his initial investment.

Duncan has been offering half day taster sessions throughout this term to create interest in Archery. Following a big demand from his schools, he’s confirmed five SPORT Active clubs and an afternoon of Curricular Archery from January.

More great news, Duncan’s schools will be taking part in his first Inspire to Compete competition in February. He’s also been invited to present Arrows Archery at the next Durham & Chester Le Street SSP teacher training event in January.

A disappointing response to franchisees submitting Ofsted inspections...

Only five franchisees submitted their schools Ofsted inspections following a number of communications sent to you over the past few weeks.

Here are the results from these five franchisees -

  • 28 Ofsted inspections
  • 71% of these was scored at outstanding or good

At this stage, these statistics unfortunately don’t give us enough EVIDENCE to underpin the IMPACT we’re having across the country. You can still help yourselves by completing this simple template and send to [email protected].

We cannot stress how important these stats are to YOUR business. The more evidence we can provide to prove Ofsted are recognising the IMPACT YOU are having via overall school grades and even, where applicable, in the report itself the better and stronger our argument.

IMPORTANT - Are your Activity Professional’s details correct on the BMS?

We will shortly be launching the new eLearning platform, giving access to all existing Activity Professionals. It is therefore imperative that email addresses are correct.

The portal will give access to a suite of learning opportunities including, once purchased, Safeguarding and Protecting Children & Vulnerable People.

Access to the platform will be given to all Franchisees/Licensees on Monday 22nd December, giving you an opportunity to get a feel for the portal. Mel will send you your user name and log in, with a link to the platform.
