Since last week’s invitation to the 2015 National Training Event, we’ve had over 95% of the network book early for FREE.

Are you among the 5% that haven’t?

This event is mandatory for business owners to attend at a cost of £250 per person. However, as we are committed to your CPD we are GIVING you two places for FREE if you complete your reservation by 5pm on Monday 2nd February 2015.

After that date, all further bookings on this event will be charged at £250 per person. Remember that this is a mandatory event so book early to save unnecessary cost.

To date, 95% of the network have already registered for the forthcoming two day NTE event. Example of reducing costs and increasing profit – franchisee drives online bookings and sees 70% increase...

Business partners, Chris Pipe and Jonathan Mills from the Romford, Dagenham, Barking and Ilford territory in Essex set to work towards the back end of the last academic year to indentify unnecessary ‘waste’ in their business to ensure a LEANer way of working. To achieve this goal, Chris indentified the promotion of extra curricular (EC) clubs as the most labour intensive aspect of his job. For example, leading up to a new term, Chris spent most of his week delivering leaflets to schools and collecting booking forms from secretaries (weekly) etc.

So, with the help of the marketing department, Chris, Jonathan and his team embarked on a new strategy to drive his customers to book online via the website.

As a result, online bookings increased by 70% for EC clubs starting this term. Also, their average numbers per club increased to 16.4 (January - April) against term 1.

We’ll let Chris talk you through the process...

Important information concerning your Act Pro DBS certification

Schools may now start to approach you and make enquires, should you happen to have an Activity Professional within your business that holds content on their DBS certificate.

Why? In 2009, the Department of Education released the ‘Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations’, but this has only just been communicated to the schools sector.

This update requires schools which provide care for pupils under the age of 8, to ensure that staff and volunteers working in these settings are not disqualified from doing so under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009.

Disqualification (content) means:

  • Having certain orders or other restrictions placed upon them
  • Having committed certain offences

Over the past couple months, Steve Girling and our IT expert have spent approx. 50 hours working towards Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance. The PCI compliance standards are mandated by the card brands (Visa, Mastercard etc) and run by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. The standards were created to increase controls around cardholder data. The good news is we are fully compliant and, as part of our network, YOU don’t have to waste your valuable time in this kind of activity. The bad news (for Steve), is that it is an annual procedure!

Important news about GCSE and A level Dance

In September 2014, the National Dance Teachers Association and Dance UK sent correspondence urging as many people as possible to send individual responses to the Ofqual consultation reviewing GCSE and A/AS level dance.

The briefing was largely supportive of the new proposals however there was one major issue concerning the assessment of GCSE Dance that caused great concern: Ofqual proposed that the new GCSE examination, which was previously 80% practical exam 20% final written exam is to change to 60% practical and 40% final written paper.

The Golden Mile and ‘Inspire to Compete’ join forces for cross country running event

Last week, Premier Sport created a cross country running event at Ormiston Venture Academy in East Norfolk, linking it to The Golden Mile and our ‘Inspire to Compete’ programme.

Over 200 children took part in the two day event, which saw the local school’s top Golden Mile runners come together for a head to head challenge.

Ross Catchpole, Health & Physical Activity Coordinator in East Norfolk commented:

“Many of the teachers who attended thought it added great value to The Golden Mile and allowed the children to put what they have been practising, into action. There are no other cross country competitions in the area that allows the children to compete against other schools, so this was a real gap in the market-and something we will be carrying out annually.”
