Apply for ‘The pupil premium summer schools programme’ – up to £500 per pupil!

Following the popularity of the summer schools programme for pupil premium students since 2012, the government will be making £250 - £500 per pupil available for the scheme to run again this summer.

Summer schools provide an excellent opportunity for secondary schools to help disadvantaged new pupils understand what and how they will be studying in key stage 3 and ultimately make a successful transition from primary to secondary school. It is also an opportunity for schools to help disadvantaged pupils who are behind in key areas such as literacy and numeracy to catch up with their peers.

We would urge you to pass this information to your secondary schools (where you plan to deliver summer courses) so they can apply for funding by completing a short online form by 29th May 2015.

Demonstrating the power of referral!

Following on from the Golden Mile article last week, Norfolk franchisee, Daniel Boswell has now confirmed his third invitation to present at three separate cluster meetings in just over a week.

This goes to show the power of referral. By just delivering the unique BLM service, complete with an analysis & guidance meeting to existing customers, head teachers are keen to share this service with their peers. The first cluster meeting was delivered this week with 100% of attendees signing up to the BLM package, all of which are NEW schools.

“Should my holiday courses be Ofsted registered?” we hear you ask...

With the introduction of the ‘Inspire to Engage’ product range, we thought it would be a timely reminder to cover what the regulations from Ofsted are around holiday course provision.

The factsheet, ‘Registration not Required’ details that registration is not required under the following conditions:

“If (excluding childminders) you provide no more than two activities from the following list -

  • School study support or homework support
  • Sport
  • Performing arts
  • Arts and crafts
  • Religious, cultural or language study”

Glenn’s top TIME tip “Effective preparation is the cornerstone of any sales activity”

Almost 4 weeks after #NTE15, Glenn Hoy of TIME Associates, who provides support for our members across all sales disciplines, has noticed a definite trend in one key area from his work with you and your fellow business owners.

Glenn comments;”‘David Batch mentioned that ‘interference’ was a significant factor in moving a business forward and following recent conversations with you, I couldn’t agree more.

This is very true at a local level in that much of my work has involved getting you ready to organise, execute and deliver sales plans and finding out that other duties can, if not recognised and managed, get in the way. Effective preparation is the cornerstone of any sales activity so you must ensure that there is sufficient time and focus delivering your sales plans.”

Glenn is more than happy to share his recent experiences and tell you what he is doing with other PEG members to overcome this potential ‘barrier to sales’.

You can call him on 0845 3404 106 or drop him an email: [email protected]
