Our response to ukactive’s Generation Inactive Report

ukactive launched their much anticipated Generation Inactive report this week at the Law Society in Holborn. The event, attended by more than 80 of ukactive’s Strategic Partners and senior stakeholders, discussed the growing issue of physical inactivity in childhood. Delegates were invited to debate the report’s findings via a panel session featuring well-known faces from the sector as well as leading figures from children’s health and wellbeing such as former Children’s Commissioner Sir Al Aynsley-Green.

PEG played a prominent role at the report launch, sponsoring the event. In addition, Duncan Goodhew MBE provided his thoughts on a panel of leading experts. Following the event and the report launch, Premier Education Group’s Chief Executive, David Batch commented:

“Measuring children’s fitness levels is actually very easy and lots of fun for the children. We are still delivering a pilot scheme with ukactive and Greenwich University and have had 100% support and enjoyment from all participating children and their parents.

This gives very tangible evidence into how fit the children are and is delivering crucial information for Head Teachers and parents to consider interventions.

I am sure we will help many children around the country in the near future as this opportunity becomes more readily available.”

The Golden Mile & Base Line Measurements continue to impact licensees’ revenue, schools awareness of their pupils physical activity levels and the measurement of pupils’ fitness.

Director Karl Fox commented “ukactive are calling for routine testing of children’s fitness following the release of Tuesday’s Generation Inactive report, revealing less than half of primary schools are recording time spent being physically active. We’ve been doing this for well over a year now, which has supported our licensees in a differentiated approach, providing tailored solutions for the specific, individual needs of our customers, which is fantastic!!”

Changes in legislation to zero hour contracts – please read

You may have heard recently that the new government has changed legislation around zero hour contracts rendering exclusivity clauses unenforceable.

Whilst we don’t issue contracts of employment to our network, we do provide the Non Compete Agreement. If your contracts of employment for zero hours do contain exclusivity clauses we advise as before, you get them checked by a solicitor and or the BFA prior to use.

Our standard Non Compete Agreement is still enforceable for full time or fixed hour contracts and will remain on the BMS for use in this way.
