Introducing the new starters for September – Part two

Following on from last month's recruitment update I am delighted to provide part two of the introduction to our new starters at Premier Sport.

Thinus Delport

Thinus lives near Cheltenham and will be operating in the Cheltenham territory. We are excited at the prospect of Thinus joining Premier Sport.

If you are a rugby fan you will certainly recognise the name as Thinus has enjoyed a successful career as an accomplished rugby professional. Thinus has performed at the highest levels for two premiership clubs and represented South Africa at international level and at 2003 Rugby World Cup. Thinus has also been part of several world-class invitational rugby teams.

Thinus is a regular guest commentator on Sky Sports and he has massive experience coaching rugby at senior national club level, which also includes developing and guiding young players. Thinus is also involved delivering inspirational initiatives with the Youth Sport Trust and Dame Kelly Holmes Trust to young people. Thinus sees the Premier Sport franchise as the ideal platform to maximise his profile by building a successful business by inspiring young children through sport.

Michael Johnson

Michael will be launching the Hackney London territory. Michael has enjoyed a successful career in the ICT and mobility industry with BT. Throughout his time with BT Michael has achieved success in demanding technical sales management roles. Michael first made contact with Premier Sport over a year ago and it was only this summer that Michael finally received the good news that he had been waiting for and that was he could realise his ambition of running his own sport coaching business by taking a redundancy package.

Michael has always been involved in sport with football his real passion (including Arsenal!). Michael has achieved a number of FA coaching qualifications and is an experienced coach having worked across various age groups and abilities in children's sport. He currently works voluntarily with Newham Borough, BT and the Football Foundation on their communicating for success initiative. Michael can also be found mentoring students at a local school, helping them with their GCSE exams.

Peter Matthews

Peter lives in Worthing Sussex and will be operating the Worthing Premier Sport franchise. Peter has built a long and successful career by helping businesses grow and with their financial duties. Peter has held various financial management roles supporting new start businesses and more recently been self employed supporting a multi-million pound turnover company being responsible for all financial aspects of the operation.

Peter's background in accounting and financial management has enabled him to fully research the Premier Sport opportunity and just as importantly enabled Peter to realise his long term dream to work in sport. Peter is excited about the prospect building a successful team of coaches and is confident about the future as he has already built a healthy pipeline of HPA days and agreed PE delivery in schools.

Peter played semi professional football for 10 years before coaching at local youth and senior football clubs.

Terry White

Terry lives in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire and will be operating the franchise in the Barnet territory.

I will always remember my first conversations and communications with Terry as he was then in New Zealand. Terry attended the discovery day on the same day he landed from New Zealand and I was amazed he managed to stay awake through the presentation, managing to fight off the jet lag. This proved to me Terry's commitment to run his own sport coaching business!

Prior to enjoying a once in a life time opportunity of visiting Australia and New Zealand Terry enjoyed a successful career in Architecture. Terry is an architecture graduate and has been employed by a large architectural practice helping design commercial, retail and mixed use developments.

Now refreshed from his time in the Southern Hemisphere Terry is ready to link his lifelong love for sport with a passion to start his own business.

Terry's passion is cricket and he is an ECB qualified level cricket coach. As you can imagine he managed to squeeze a few games of cricket whilst in New Zealand and Australia.  Terry is a wicket keeper and can be found playing in a senior league team every weekend.

May I again take this opportunity to wish all our new starters every success as they start their businesses and I am confident we will report many great news stories as they progress over the coming months.

Thank you to everyone at Head Office and the support team for ensuring a smooth process plus the franchise owners who have given up their time to chat or meet with our new starters.

You will be pleased to hear that we are already planning the next induction course which will take place in the New Year and we have a number of equally high calibre individuals interested in joining the network.
