Out of School Hours Learning (OSHL) - over 50 different activities to choose from...

A complete service...

Dear Headteachers / PE Coordinators,

Thanks to the primary schools across Winchester and East Hampshire for contacting us and claiming a free 12 month subscription to The Golden Mile.

This week, we’d like tell you about our complete wrap-around service we’re offering your school. In the 2014-15 school year we had over 7.4 million visits on our groundbreaking OSHL programme, which we call ‘INSPIRE’. This suite of services was designed to be inclusive, with complete activity structures to engage all your pupils, from those not normally inspired by sport, through to the budding stars of the future.

The INSPIRE Programme has been proven to improve classroom behaviour, stimulate academic performance and improve your attendance. We also provide parents with feedback at the end of each activity block. This reporting highlights the learning outcomes and progress of the child needed for Ofsted accountability measurements.

Our team of professionals deliver breakfast, lunchtime, after school and holiday programmes in over 50 different activities; currently popular are archery, fencing and gymnastics. All of our staff are specialists, you can be safe in the knowledge that your pupil will be getting the best possible delivery.

More about ‘PLAY Active’...

PLAY Active is an example of one of the programmes within INSPIRE.

What is PLAY Active? Many children believe themselves to be ‘un-sporty’ because they feel alienated by activities which are focused on win/lose scenarios. Our PLAY Active sessions will encourage fun-based physical activity rather than traditional sports.

The aim of PLAY Active is to encourage non-sporty children to get physically active through structured activities. By placing the emphasis on inclusion rather than sport skills and techniques, children are encouraged to have fun. This in turn improves social skills, self esteem, balance, co-ordination and physical wellbeing.

As an extracurricular programme, it can run at any time during the school day - before school, during lunch breaks or as an after school club; a typical session will last around 60 minutes.
