We’ve Been Busy

Yes we’ve been inspiring young minds through exciting summer holiday activities, but we’ve also found time to have fun and learn some great new skills for ourselves.

This August we took part in a day’s training and upskilling, sharing ideas and visions with other Activity Professionals. We came away with loads of ideas and inspiration on how we can improve our service to you and your keen young students.

In addition, we’ve taken part in Fencing and Gymnastics qualifications for our new staff, and extended training in Gymnastics delivery as part of our continual professional development – this strongly links to our core value #4: Commit to continual improvement. Find out more about our Core Values in the ‘Mr & Miss Premier’ section.

Our activity professionals are dedicated to inspiring and challenging young minds to lead healthy and active lives and to engage children in competitive sport and activities. Click the image above to view some pictures of our Activity Professionals in action on our training course...

Fantastic Summer Of Fun

After teaming up with ukactive and conducting research on the fitness levels among school children, the outstanding finding was the considerable drop off of child activity over the summer months.

We weren’t about to let this happen in and around Exeter and so hosted one of our best summers yet! With numerous venues and in excess of 1000 child attendances, everybody absolutely smashed it.

From Nerf Wars to Arrow Tag, from Dance to Slip n’ Slides, there was enjoyment to be had by all.

Exciting Times Ahead For Our Sector

It’s exciting times ahead for our sector as we’re sure you’re well aware. The soft drinks levy across the UK will provide funding to reduce obesity and encourage physical activity, which in turn will double the PE & Sport Premium for schools, with an extra £10 million being added every year for healthy school breakfast clubs!

But what does this mean?

  • The UK Chief Medical Officers’ recommend that all children take part in moderate or vigorous activity for at least 60 minutes per day
  • 30 minutes of this should be through the school; PE, Extra-Curricular Clubs and lunch time activities etc.
  • 30 minutes of this should be through parents and outside of school
  • Ofsted will be assessing how schools are using the premium and will be measuring the health impacts on children

So how does your school fare already? Are you thinking about how to meet these demands?

If you would like to chat about how your school is already meeting physical activity standards or would like to know how to improve them with the funding available, contact us using this link, we’d be happy to help!
