Welcome to June’s #morethansport newsletter.

I recommend that you take a few minutes and watch the video franchisee Sam Barton has created. It seems incredible that it has been a year since I first met Sam at a Discovery Day.

Sam launched her Worthing Premier business in September and, since then, has enjoyed success at establishing and building many relationships with schools across her region. One of the highlights in the video for me is listening to Jan the TA describe the positive impact The Golden Mile has had on children who would otherwise remain inactive.

Congratulations to Sam for the fantastic launch of her business. The great news for us all here at Premier is that Sam is not the only one! Everyone else who launched within the last year along with Sam are also experiencing unprecedented success.

Sam will be the first to acknowledge that it has taken tons of effort and drive to achieve the things she has. However, just asked her “are you doing something that you love?” and her huge smile will tell you the answer.

Thanks,

Phil Gaffer

An insight into Premier Sport!

This brilliant video submitted by franchisee Sam Barton gives the perfect insight into what schools, teachers, Activity Professionals and children think about Premier Sport.

Here are just a couple of our favourite quotes from this video:

“They understand how a school works, all the members of staff that have come in have been really professional, know what they are talking about and have a really good relationship with the children” – Robert Clarke, PE Coordinator.

“The online booking system for the parents is a really fantastic resource, and as a PE Leader, the portal of information we get with planning and assessment data is very useful” – Nick Matthews, assistant head teacher and PE leader.

Well done Sam, great video!

Opportunities Abound!

Premier Sport has over 100 franchised territories in the UK and is now looking to expand overseas with the recruitment of master franchisees and area developers worldwide.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends 60 minutes of physical activity each day for children aged five to 17 years, and that physical activities for children and adolescents should be developmentally appropriate, fun, and offer variety.

UNICEF surveyed almost 5,000 school children just in the UAE and found 68% were either getting no exercise or too little.

“My Personal Best” Initiative is Launched!

With English children’s fitness levels on a downward spiral (declining at a rate of 0.95% annually), Premier Sport have developed a brand new fitness initiative, backed by ukactive, to help combat this issue.

Last Thursday (19th May), the initiative was launched at a North London school by Premier Sport and ukactive, accompanied by Duncan Goodhew MBE and GB athletes Romaine Bailey and Lee Shinkin.

Schools in Islington and Camden were given the chance to sign up to the brand new initiative, which involves four bleep tests over the space of a year, which will help to identify when children are most inactive.

New Apprenticeships Exceed All Expectations

When we launched our new partnership with Creative Sport & Leisure (CSL) as national apprenticeship provider back in August 2015, we could never imagine the impact it would have on the network.

Based on previous years, the ambitious target of 50 apprentices was set and surpassed in the first two months. Entering the final term of the year we are just shy of 100 apprentices in learning, across the network.
