An example in ‘Inspire to Compete’ school competition...
|
Earlier this month, Duncan Donnelly held his first ‘Inspire to Compete’ basketball competition in conjunction with the Outer West Learning Trust in Newcastle. The event was organised by Premier Sport’s local Competitions Coordinator, Darryll Donnelly.
Each school entered the competition with a basketball team which was supported by a media team. The work of the media was vital with each school being able to document their journey from their basketball after school clubs to the actual competition day itself. During the competition, the media teams interviewed their own players and staff as well as players and staff from other schools.

GM Monitor Training, part 1 - Intro & understanding the benefits of physical activity
|
This week sees the launch of part one of the Golden Mile ‘Monitor Training’ resource that provides licensees with video of a live training session delivered by GM Director, Karl Fox. This particular process is integral to the success, longevity and reducing the time management of GM within your schools.
|
This new training video is split into four parts for ease of use and designed to support your delivery within schools and clusters. Part one sees Karl introducing the initiative to the elected Monitors and explaining the benefits of regular physical activity.
We’ll release the other three parts over the coming weeks. If you can’t wait, we’ve already uploaded these to our YouTube channel.

Local police force invests £20,000 in community initiatives
|
Paul Baker from the Wigan and Leigh territory attended a ‘Participatory Budget’ event last Saturday at Higher Fold community Centre and scooped £1,998 for one of his schools.
The event was run by the local police force and it was a ‘Participatory Budget’ event in which the police have invested £20,000 into the local community. They invited organisations to bid for a share of the money with a maximum of £2,000 per bid.
Paul commented:
|
“We partnered up with one of our schools to bid for £1,998.00 to run two weeks of holiday courses. We had a three minute slot to pitch our idea to the community and they then vote for which project they want to receive the money. I led the pitch with two year six pupils from the school. Our bid was successful and we’ve received the full £1,998.00 pounds for our summer holiday programme.“
Paul would urge other franchisees to research these events and partner up with their schools to bid for funds.
