Working smarter not harder creates wonderfully enjoyable experiences...

One of the biggest challenges you as Activity Professionals face when delivering is undoubtedly behaviour management and controlling children - we’re talking both curricular time and out of school hours. Behaviour management is the very first thing all headteachers and teaching staff are looking for when an Activity Professional is deployed.

This leads in nicely to Andy’s latest log, focusing on key strategies and simple mechanisms to ensure you are ‘working smarter not harder’ (CV no.8). By ensuring the class control and behaviour management is the best it can possibly be, will ‘create wonderfully enjoyable experiences’ (CV no.2), which is ultimately Andy’s secret to being the best!

PLEASE READ - Evidencing the Impact of the Primary PE & Sport Premium - Guidance & Template

In March 2013 the government announced that it was to provide additional funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013 to 2014 and 2014 to 2015 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools in England - The Primary PE & Sport Premium.

This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is allocated to primary school headteachers. The funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

In the Autumn Statement 2013, the Chancellor, George Osbourne announced an additional year's £150m extended funding, taking the total investment to the end of the 2016 academic year.

afPE and the YST have been asked by the Department for Education to create a national template to aid Head teachers, Governors and teachers in evidencing the Impact of the Primary PE & Sport Premium . Click the button to download the document.

Our message to headteachers is clear – Once they register for our Schools Portal it will provide them, their teaching staff and department leads with a host of essential information. With just a click of a button, the Portal will display a range of impact measurements of sport and physical activity for every pupil. This is a key component of measuring the impact of the Primary PE & Sport Premium.

School Games 2014/15 Report

The School Games were established in 2011 and are a competition over four levels for school children aged 5 to under 19. The School Games are designed to build on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and enable every school and child to participate in competitive sport, including opportunities for disabled youngsters.

This statistical release presents the cost per participant of the School Games. More specifically, it derives the average public sector cost per eligible student at schools participating in the School Games for the 2014/15 academic year. This measure was initially developed as an input indicator to measure the performance of the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS).

This release looks at schools participating in the School Games, the number of students at these schools as well as the public sector finances allocated to the School Games.

Witness the birth of our newest members...

Inspired by the traditional fable; Tortoise and the Hare demonstrates even if you do not think you can succeed, with the best effort, focus and determination you may be surprised at what you can acheive.

The characters are the perfect advocates for our Inspire to Engage programme – designed to inspire all kids to enjoy being active during the holiday periods.

To support your Inspire to Engage programmes, we’re nearing the final stages of producing our mascot Tortoise and the Hare costumes, which will be available to hire upon completion (‘Read more’ to see the progress pictures).
